I started this blog for a couple of reasons. The obvious one: I love beauty and skincare. I want a platform to share my product reviews and experiences with friends and family and, hopefully(!) more of you.
The other main reason is a personal one. My interest in skincare really accelerated at a time in my life where I was learning to truly appreciate myself; who I was as a person, what I looked like, everything. At the time, I was going through a difficult time, and I realised I was using make-up to feel better.
I wore more than I ever had (I usually wear little) and I no longer put it on because I enjoyed wearing it, or because I just loved make-up. I wore it because I genuinely believed I needed it. It was having an impact on my self-esteem in so many ways.
With all the anxieties and insecurities, I made the choice to fight them. I started off by banning myself from wearing any make-up. I stopped wearing it completely for 3 months.
Naturally, as a result, I started noticing and learning more about my skin. I would see and feel what irritated it or what it required. I would research different ingredients from products to help me understand how to alleviate any problems. I fell in love with the routines I have every morning and night; that “me-time”, my new rituals that would help me get on with my day or help me rest well for a new one. I. Just. Loved. It. Overtime I would recommend products to family and friends, and research for their skin types, learning what worked and what did not. I enjoy it so much! Not just trying new products, but also taking care of myself… and it’s not about vanity at all! It’s about feeling good so I can be a better version of me.
The industry is definitely filled with experts and beauty enthusiasts who I have definitely learned from, and now I hope that my experiences can help you learn about your skin too. I am not an expert, and I will only ever share my genuine opinions on products based on my experience and/or family/friends.
I hope this blog helps you to find (or build on) a positive relationship with you and your skincare, so that you can be confident in your own skin.
Feel free to get in touch via my Instagram or comments. Would love to hear from you.
